The Skinny on Me

I'm just a girl (well, 22-year-old girl) trying to find my happiness through running and healthy eating.

Who I Follow

As I like to say, I have certain size stigmas, also known as I won’t buy clothes unless I can buy them in certain sizes.

Case in point, the perfect New Year’s Eve dress that I found at H&M (I would totally post a pic, but it was no where to be found online). Being the optimistic person that I am, I tried it on in a size 10. It didn’t fit, at all. Well, it fit over my fat ass, but did not, I repeat DID NOT, come anywhere close to zipping up. So, rather than trying it on in a 12, I can’t get it, because the number 12 seems too big.

Last night, I finally got around to taking my measurements, and first thing this morning, I stepped on the scale.

  • Current Weight: 174 lbs (-2lbs)
  • Neck: 14”
  • Bust: 41”
  • Chest: 35” (below the breast)
  • Waist: 33”
  • Hips: 44” (maybe 41” — I’m not quite sure where if the first number was taken too low, taking part of my ass into account)

Now that I actually know the numbers, I’ve been perusing the sizing charts of several stores. It’s embarrassing.

  • Forever 21 — I don’t actually shop here anymore after a sales associate told me to shop in their plus-size section (talk about rude). According to their size chart, I’m too big for their normal line (by 1-2 inches, depending on chest, waist, hips, etc). But get this, I’m too f-ing small for their Forever 21+ sizes (by, wait for it, 1-2 inches.)
  • Old Navy — Working our way up, according to their size chart, I would wear somewhere between 12, 14 and 16 (based off waist and hip measurements) for bottoms. Ouch, a 14. (Going back to my size stigmas, I never, ever, ever buy anything over a size 12).  For dresses, tops and outwear, I’d wear either a size 14 (L) or 16 (XL). Their bra measurements are just wacko. According to their measuring guide, I’d wear a 40A, when I know for a fact that I wear a 36DD.
  • H&M — For tops and bottoms, I’m looking at a solid large (16). Bummer.

Wow, just wow. The more I look at this, I’m stunned that I even have clothes that still fit. My two go-to pair of jeans are sizes 11/12 and 12. My skirts are typically around a size 12 (Hell, the one I’m wearing today is a size 8, but I’m wearing it at my waist) My tank tops are all larges.

On a positive note, I went for a three mile run/walk last night in 41:00 at a 13:34 min/mile pace, AND I weighed in at 174 this morning, meaning I lost two pounds!

My goals this week:

  • Lose 2 pounds (come on 172, I want to be <170lbs by Thanksgiving)
  • Stick to no more than 2 drink per night rule (I may have gone a wee bit overboard Saturday night)
  • Eat out less
  • Complete C25k Week 2 (if running after work, continue run/walk for three miles)
  • Walk three miles/workout to workout video after work 2 nights this week
  • Drink more water!

Happy Monday everyone! What are your goals for the week?
